I've been reading ex-pat boards to get some perspective on likely culture shock. Some things are amusing, depending on who is saying them. In particular I find the ones about the expense and size of rental property and the difficulty in getting somewhere particularly interesting. Last time I had to rent, you'd be looking at min. 20 other people viewing. That was before mass immigration. For the same as my mortgage now, we can easily get somewhere 10sqm bigger, where presumably people won't throw litter and plumber's pipe into your yard. Am I really not understanding or are they exaggerating? FWIW, expat Londoners never make those complaints.
Work stuff. Pay rise (2xinflation), bonus, working out handovers. Still on hold for the meeting which discusses the future direction of the role for the next incumbent.
